Regular meeting of the Board Of Fire Commissioners will be held at
Fire District Headquarters located at 200 Kierych Memorial Dr (Johnson
Park Firehouse) on Monday August 16, 2010 at 7:30 pm (AGENDA) |
NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING
NOTICE IS HEREBY given that a special meeting of the Board
of Fire Commissioners, District No. 3, in the Township of Jackson,
County of Ocean, will be held at 8:00 p.m. at 200 Kierych Memorial
Drive, Jackson, NJ on Tuesday, July 27, 2010. This will be an open
discussion regarding the District Study and other matters as needed.
Formal actions will be taken on all appropriate matters, if necessary.

Signs and Symptoms of
Heat Exhaustion
Heat exhaustion is one of the
heat-related syndromes, which range in severity from
mild heat cramps to heat exhaustion to potentially
life-threatening heatstroke.
Signs and symptoms
of heat exhaustion often begin suddenly, sometimes after
excessive exercise, heavy perspiration, and inadequate
fluid or salt intake. Signs and symptoms resemble those
of shock and may include:

Feeling faint
or dizzy |
 |
Nausea |
 |
Heavy sweating |
 |
Rapid, weak
heartbeat |
 |
Low blood
pressure |
 |
Cool, moist,
pale skin |
 |
Low-grade
fever |
 |
Heat cramps

 |
Headache
|
 |
Fatigue
|
 |
Dark-colored
urine |
If you
suspect heat exhaustion:
 |
Get the person
out of the sun and into a shady or air-conditioned
location. |
 |
Lay the person
down and elevate the legs and feet slightly. |
 |
Loosen or
remove the person's clothing. |
 |
Have the
person drink cool water or other nonalcoholic
beverage without caffeine. |
 |
Cool the
person by spraying or sponging him or her with cool
water and fanning. |
 |
Monitor the
person carefully. Heat exhaustion can quickly become
heatstroke. |
If fever greater
than 102 F (38.9 C), fainting, confusion or seizures
occur, call 911 or emergency medical help.

Jackson
Fire District No. 3
Jackson
Fire District No. 3 is one of four Fire District's within the Township of Jackson. Fire District 3 covers the most populated area in the northeast
section of Jackson. Population was estimated in 2006 by the US Census Bureau
at 52,305
people. The District is governed by five members of the Board of Fire Commissioners who have, as
in the case of municipalities,
power, duty and function related to the prevention and extinguishment of
fires and the regulation of fire hazards.
An election is held annually on the
third Saturday in February for the election of
members of the Board and operating budget. General business meetings are held
every 3rd Monday of the month at 7:30pm at Fire District headquarters
located at 200 Kierych Memorial Drive.
The Fire District is a combination
Fire Department employing 14 career firefighters during the daytime
hours (6am to 4pm) Monday to Friday. Career firefighters
also cover Fire District 1
(Whitesville) under a shared services
agreement between the two Fire District Boards. The Fire
District also contract's with Jackson Township Volunteer Fire Co. No
1 located on Larsen Rd for fire suppression coverage around the
clock.
Fire District 3 Fire
Department is commanded by a District Fire Chief in charge of
day to day operations of the Fire District and supervises the administrative
staff, suppression and fire safety divisions of the Department. The
suppression division is staffed with three Company Officers and a
crew. The Companies are stationed strategically within the two
fire district's for quick response within 4 to 6 minutes of dispatch.
The Companies are located at Kierych Memorial Dr, Larsen Rd, and S.
Hope Chapel Rd. Some of their daily duties include fire suppression,
rescue & first responder EMS, fire inspections & prevention.
The Bureau of Fire Safety
District 1 & 3 is the local enforcement agency for the NJ State
Uniform Fire Code. The Fire Official oversee's day to day operation of
the Fire Bureau. Some of the duties include enforcement of
local, state and federal laws to prevent fire and educate the
community in fire safety. The Fire Bureau's fire safety coordinator
conducts programs such as juvenile fire setter program, fire
extinguisher training & fire safety demonstrations to schools,
community groups and employers.
